Zenescope Entertainment has officially announced they have obtained the comic book and graphic novel publishing rights to the television property Charmed, the television series that aired for eight seasons on The WB network and averaged more than 4 million viewers throughout its run. Zenescope's comic book series will feature a brand new storyline which picks up where the television series left off. The story follows the Halliwell sisters, a beautiful trio descended from a line of powerful but good witches, as they battle against evil beings in modern day San Francisco. Attached to write the new comic book series is author Paul Ruditis. Co-writing with Ruditis will be Raven Gregory and renowned artist Dave Hoover will be providing interior illustrations for the series. Issue #0 is scheduled for a June release with issue #1 to debut at Comic Con International in San Diego this July.

Wayne Kasserman directs. Mr. Roday and Mr. Weston reprise their roles Off-Broadway in Extinction following its acclaimed, sold-out run this past fall in Los Angeles at the Elephant Space theatre in Hollywood in a production praised by Variety as "the creative meat of a truly talented writer... a very dark view of the sexes." The L.A. Times wrote that the play "enters unexplored, murky corners and is uniquely unsettling." With a cast featuring James Roday, Michael Weston, Amanda Detmer and Stefanie E. Frame, Extinction is Mr. McKinley's play about what transpires between two college buddies whose annual outing of male-bonding and debauchery veers precipitously off course when unmet expectations spiral into a volatile showdown. Home cooks nationwide submitted more than 8,000 recipes in hopes of achieving culinary fame in one of six categories: Comfort Food, Party Food, Hot & Spicy, Burgers, Cakes & Desserts, and Hometown Favorites.     Minutes before Fox and several News Corp. cable channels, including FX and Speed, were to go dark on Time Warner Cable's East Coast systems , the two companies agreed to "a brief extension" to their carriage agreement, which expired at midnight Dec. 31. FCC chairman Julius Genachowski on Thursday also "urged Fox and Time Warner Cable to agree to a temporary extension of carriage if they do not come to terms on a new carriage agreement today, in order to prevent disruption to their viewers." Between Jan. 1 and Jan. 5, Fox is set to air the four major college bowls as well as the Dallas Cowboys/Philadelphia Eagles NFL game.

    Marvel stockholders have approved the company's plan to merge Marvel Entertainment with the Walt Disney Co. The deal, which will see Marvel become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Disney, was approved at a special meeting in New York. Marvel estimates the merger's value at $4.3 billion.

    The second season premiere of Hoarders, the number one freshman non-fiction series on cable among adults 25-54, will introduce Augustine, whose son Jason was removed from her home by Child Protective Services 14 years ago, because of her hoarding. She was never able to clean up enough to have him return. Now, as an adult living on the other side of the country, he is filled with shame and resentment, but unable to turn his back on her. Augustine's hoarding has become so severe that she has lived without water, gas, heat or appliances for the last four years - bathing only once a week at her sister's house. Complaints from neighbors have instigated a court ordered clean-up and the city is threatening to condemn her house.     This January, 12 of the most hopeless cooks in the country will compete in a high-stakes elimination series in Worst Cooks in America. At stake for the last two standing is the chance to cook for a panel of esteemed culinary critics and win the grand prize of $25,000.     Production begins this December on Season 2 of What Would Brian Boitano Make?, it was announced by Food Network.     Dark Horse and 72 Productions have teamed up for Deadlocke (releasing November 18, 2009), a special one shot comic book tie-in to Christopher Krovatin's Venomous which is currently in the works as a feature film. Deadlocke mixes real life and young adult themes with escapist comic book fantasy to tell the story of a Manhattan teenager whose world is turned upside down when the dark alter ego who exists in his drawings threatens to take over his life.     Food Network stars Mario Batali, Bobby Flay and Emeril Lagasse travel to the White House to take part in an unprecedented culinary competition in Super Chef Battle, a special two-hour episode of Iron Chef America. Greeted by First Lady Michelle Obama, the chefs are joined by White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford and receive their challenge: create a meal for America using The White House Kitchen Garden's produce as their secret ingredients. The special episode premieres Sunday, January 3rd at 8pm ET/PT.

    Iron Chef America commentator Alton Brown explains that the Chairman has sent the three Food Network chefs to Washington, D.C. for a very special battle and introduces Chef Cristeta Comerford, who will also take part in the competition.
